A coupling or clutch transfers torque with low loss within a mechanical drive train. It is the drive element par excellence for shaft connections. But a coupling or clutch is also used to interrupt power transmission in the event of overload, compensate for radial, axial and angular shaft displacement and cushion torque shocks.
