Absolute precision and highest speed are important for you?

Then there is only one ideal solution: High precision spindle bearings

Spindle bearings are single-row angular contact ball bearings consisting of strong outer and inner ring with reinforced ball cages. These bearings are available with or without seals. Spindle bearings have tight tolerances, so their field of application is where high demands are placed on precision and speed. They are mainly used in machine tool construction, medical technology, food industry and aerospace.

Spindle bearings are characterised by the following properties:

  • Manufacture in grade P4 (or ABEC7) or better

  • Rings made of high-performance, corrosion-resistant steel

  • Steel or ceramic balls available for all types

  • Solid ball cages made of phenolic resin reinforced with special materials, e.g. for high operating temperatures

  • 15° (C) or 25° (E) contact angle as a standard.

  • Optionally, bearings can be paired with three pre-defined preload classes (L, M, S) or with individual preload.

  • Oil or grease lubrication.

  • Open and closed versions available.

Closed spindle bearings

  • The non-contact shields do not cause any additional friction torque.

  • The standard shields made of Viton with steel stiffener offer a excellent temperature and chemical resistance.

  • Very narrow sealing gap for high dust protection.

  • Recommended for grease lubrication, increases the longer service life.

  • Same outer dimensions as open spindle bearings.

  • This design requires often smaller balls, resulting in a lower bearing capacity but higher axial stiffness and speed limit (usually signified by an index letter after the basic type in the part number).

  • Also available without closure as high-speed version.

Radial and axial forces

In addition to the radial forces, the bearings also absorb axial forces in one direction. Spindle bearings, which are used in O or X arrangement, absorb axial forces in both directions and moments. Bearings in tandem arrangement can only support axial loads in one direction.

High-speed spindle bearings with ceramic balls are available for high speed requirements. These series thus achieve higher speeds, have lower friction and heat generation, stress the lubricant less and have a longer service life.
